Weslo Treadmills - For The Right Person Only

Weslo treadmills are economy models made by Icon Health and Fitness, the largest producer of fitness equipment.

Here, 'economy' is spelled 'low-end'. Weslo treadmill models are designed for occasional users and those who limit their workouts to occasional sessions.

Those wanting machines capable of sports training, running, and intense fitness or health programs should look elsewhere.

All current Weslo models sell for less than $700.

Icon is known for using less-than-reliable overseas parts and for putting packaging ahead of quality, and Weslo models are no exception.

In fact, as a low-end brand, they are the rule, an extended warranty, if available, is a very good idea.  

Buy New And Get Used To It

Older Weslo equipment is a questionable buy.

As mentioned, Weslo treadmills are intended to be entry-level, not for heavy training or sports fitness, and they sell so inexpensively, especially when discounted by the large retailers who usually sell them, it makes little sense to take a chance on a used older model like the Deluxe, 850, or the Weslo 920.

Although the 920 features an adjustable incline and readouts for calories, speed, distance, and pulse through thumb pulse grips, a newer model like the Cadence 78s gives all that and more in a new model suitable for light running and more intense training, especially if that's all you can afford.

The C78 is equipped with a 2.75 HP motor for speeds up to 10MPH. Its deck is 18x54" and has a powered incline up to 10%.

A pulse heart rate monitor is standard, as are five built-in programs and optional iFit®, Icon's interactive technology.

Most Weslo treadmills, new or used, are fold-away designs.

Be careful of the warranty, warn those who review Weslo treadmills.

Icon warranties have the image of being notoriously weak usually covering the motor pretty well while covering the rest for only 90 days.
