Smooth Treadmills 5.5HR - Old But Not Forgotten

Among older Smooth treadmills 5.5HR is a workhorse that doesn't eat much hay, but it's very difficult to find anymore and has been updated in the 5.0 series by the Smooth 5.1 or 5.15, both low-end Smooth machines.

The Smooth treadmill 5.5HR was preferred by those who liked their gym equipment spare, sturdy, and economical.

If you want similar features today, you'll have to choose between the Smooth 5.1 and the Smooth 7.1.

A Smooth Ride Or A Heart-y Machine

Both the 5.1 and the 7.1 have 2.5CHP motors, will do speeds up to 10MPH and have power inclines to 15%, and both have Hand Grip Pulse Monitors, but there the similarities end.

The 5.1 has an 18x53" deck--not too large--and only supports a weight capacity of 275 lb.

The 7.1 is for intense training by big people and will easily accommodate a running stride with a cushioned deck of 20x54".

The electronics are more advanced in the 7.1, as well, offering a more comprehensive readout console and, in particular, offering heart rate control over speed and incline as a standard feature.

Both are folding treadmills, but the Smooth 7.1 has power folding standard, a good thing given its size and weight.

And both are of the highest quality and are recommended in nearly every treadmill review.

Keep in mind that the 5.1 and the 7.1 are in different price categories, but that means those of you who think the 5.5HR was a good idea now have even more choices.
