The Proform 580 SI Treadmill - Plenty To Back It Up

The Proform 580 si treadmill is an older model that was made for Sears.

Rarely found today, it features a 2.5HP motor for speeds up to 10MPH, a Pro Shox™ cushioned 19x55" belt with up to 10 percent power incline, 8 workout options, and since Proform pioneered the concept,  a fold-away design.

Proform 580 si treadmills are similar to the Pro Form 580x, 540, and 840 models which can be found used online, but current models matching the features of the Proform 580si, like the xp 590s, are available at Sears for less than $900.

Many of these models have been made exclusively for Sears by Proform, a subsidiary of Icon Health and Fitness, the largest manufacturer of sports and exercise equipment.

A New Take On An Old Story, But Run With It

Like the Proform 580, 540, and 840, the xp 590s is made for home training and general health and fitness and is equipped with a 2.75HP motor for speeds up to 10MPH and a 19x55" running surface with up to 10% incline.

In keeping with recent health trends, the xp590s includes a Carb Counter for those following a low-carb diet. It also has preset workouts and iFit®, Icon's interactive training workouts. Proform was a leader in fold-away designs and the xp590s has a nice improvement in its lift-assist SpaceSaver™ design.

Proform, like most of Icon's brands, is sometimes criticized for using inferior parts that jeopardize the reliability of their equipment, but they are also rated highly in their price-class, generally around $1000 or less.

Warranties on new models, like xp 590s, are weak: a few years on the motor, 90 days on parts and labor.

Still, Sears backs its products and offers extended service agreements as well as its own service.

Used models, including the 580x, 540, 840, and the 580si, can sometimes be found online as remanufactured or refurbished models with warranties offered by the supplier.
