Diamondback Treadmills - Gone The Way Of The DoDo Bird
Diamondback treadmills are no longer in production, but some Diamondback treadmill models can still be purchased from online suppliers.
Diamondback continues to produce good quality exercise and fitness equipment like steppers, recumbents, ellipticals, and so forth, but their efforts to market a competitive and quality treadmill met with failure and the eventual decision to stop production.
Diamondback is owned by Raleigh, the bicycle manufacturer which has produced quality bicycles for many years.
How About An Elliptical?
Diamondback produced the 1200 treadmill early on.
Manufactured in Taiwan, it featured a 2.5HP motor (not a continuous power rating), an 18"x56" running surface, and it sells still for over $2000.
It was not received well in treadmill review articles.
Diamondback ellipticals are another matter.
Currently, offering elliptical models in both front and rear drive configurations, Diamondback produces ellipticals suitable for beginner home use and institution-quality machines for home sports training, weight loss programs, and general fitness and health.
The 300ef Diamondback front-drive elliptical is a beginner model selling for about $700, but it features pulse monitoring, displays time, speed, distance, calorie, pulse, resistance.
Target programs include calories burned and time, and the display can switch between English and Metric measures. Its weight capacity is 275 lbs. The stride length on the 300ef is 15" and its total footprint length is only 53".
The 1150er elliptical is rear-drive selling for about $1900 and is a considerable jump in features and capabilities.
Eight programs and two user profiles are standard, as is a chest strap and pulse grip for heart rate monitoring and control.
The stride is 21", its weight capacity is 350 lbs, workouts are forward or reverse, and its power requirements are battery powered.
Warranties on Diamondback fitness products depend on model and use. The warranty on the 1150er elliptical for home use is 3 years on parts, electronics, and brake generator, and 1 year on labor.
